Support-data policy

Support starts without your vault data.

Effective date: May 31, 2026

Digital Gun Vault is built around local-first firearm recordkeeping. Support should preserve that posture: no user vault data is requested, accepted, or retained by default.

Default intake

Support requests should use descriptions, platform details, app version numbers, operating system version, reproduction steps, and exact error text when available.

Data we do not request

Do not send vault files, exports, firearm lists, serial numbers, NFA paperwork, location screenshots, recovery passwords, master passwords, private keys, or identity documents.

Explicit consent only

If a rare support issue cannot be diagnosed without user data, the exchange must be narrow, voluntary, and explicitly approved by both the user and the owner of the Digital Gun Vault application before any data is sent.

Limited purpose

Any approved support data is used only for the specific support request that justified the exchange. Digital Gun Vault does not use support intake to build a hosted firearm database or collect inventory records.

Sensitive attachments

If support asks for a screenshot, redact firearm details, serial numbers, names, addresses, storage labels, and document thumbnails unless the approved support request specifically requires one of those fields.

Legal boundaries

Support can help with app behavior, installation, vault workflows, imports, exports, and troubleshooting. It does not provide legal advice, transfer authorization, ownership determinations, valuation opinions, or ATF filing services.
